Unless you need to change key in the Editor for the song (for example when inputing chords from sheet music where it is printed in another key), Soft Transpose is used to simply change key for the song for your own purposes.

Select this key in Concert key (the key a piano, guitar etc. would be playing in.) If you play a transposing wind instrument and have chosen it's setting for your instrument, then visually the chords will show in a different key, but still play in Concert key, just like playing in a band.

 

Click on the Key on the top right in the control panel to choose a key.

 

 

If the playback control is minimized, you can set the key at the bottom right.
